TRW Calendar: April ’26

It’s April!

March on into the month of fools and practical yolks and resurrections!

Easter is about chocolate eggs and bunnies right? Or did I miss something? Being raised as a catholic I’m aware of this Jesus fellow who did some pretty extreme and benevolent stuff so we could all be free from sin.

Is it just me, or is a dad’s premeditated offspring-ocide kinda ‘sinny’ ? I guess if it’s for a good cause we can make an exception. OK? Precedent set! Jesus does come back to life in the end so no harm done.

Speaking Of Resurrections…

Are you familiar with the fossil of a joke pictured below? And before your mind runs away with you, it’s got nothing to do with what the Brainrot kids are on about “Six Seven, Six Seven!”  Rather it’s…

Why was 6 afraid of 7?

Because 7 8 9!

On The Subject Of Eating,

Chuck the chocoholic joins us for a touch of Easter spirit with a test of his abstinence from his favourite pastime, eating chocolate.

Back To Resurrections & The Featured Release Of:

The Rocky Road To Reality.

The rocky road chocolate bar is a funny little creation that is said to have originated in the mid 1800s in order to save spoiled confectionery that travelled from Europe all the way across the world to Australia.

This nutty journey could take anything from two to eight months depending on how hard you prayed and could sustain having all your fingers and toes crossed at the same time. That is, if you made it at all.

Forget turbo replenished supermarket shelves. This was a time when European goodies weren’t something that your local Aussie was gonna just let go to waste. So what do you do with a boat load of semi edible confectionery?

“Chop ‘em, mix ‘em and cover ‘em in fair-dinkum chocolate mate! She’ll be right!”

And there’s your recipe, ready to be sent over rocky roads to all sorts of hard to reach locations in developing Australia, its tumultuous journey becoming its marketable namesake.

Forest Gump famously said ‘Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know which one you’re gonna get’ Well he’s a dumbass and should have just turned the box over to see the colour coding.

I believe life is more like a Rocky Road: Everyone gets one but no two are the same, an uneven mix of nuts, chewy candy or soft marshmallows that’s completely the luck of the draw.

Likewise some of life’s realities can be hard to swallow. Sticky habits, ideals and dogmas can cause rot. Having a soft and squishy centre will get you trampled and easily manipulated. In which case you’ve come full circle and have to deal with the hard to swallow nuts sooner or later. And the cycle continues.

What has life thrown at you that changed your settings? Have you broken apart and grown into something different? Did you get harder? Softer? More resilient? What’s your rocky road to self realisation been like?

Rocky’s wasn’t pretty…
